The British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are amongst the most popular yacht charter destinations in the world and if still unexplored, on most sailors “bucket list”. The non-tidal, crystal clear waters with short cruising distances between the islands offer multiple stops including great snorkelling, diving and the world famous “Baths” on Virgin Gorda. The beaches are uncrowded, the bars are friendly and there are lots of live music venues where you can dance on the soft white sand under the stars.  If you happen to be in The BVI over a full moon, you can join other visitors, sailors and locals at the Trellis Bay Full Moon party with fire balls, mocko jumbies, fire eating, dancing and good old  traditional British Virgin Islands hospitality.   Below is a potential itinerary but this is your holiday of a life time and it will be changed depending on your requirements.

Day 1

Tortola

You will be met on arrival at the airport located on Beef Island, Tortola. If you want a VIP meet and greet so customs and immigration are cleared for you, while you enjoy a rum punch in the air conditioned lounge, we will happily arrange.   You will be driven to your yacht, given a full tour and briefing with cocktail in hand followed by dinner on board.  If you arrive in the afternoon rather than the evening, you can start sailing or enjoy a sunset sail.

Day 2

Norman Island, The Indians and Cooper Island

Norman Island is home to spectacular cave snorkelling and also an archipelago of islands called The Indians.   Here you will find some of the best snorkeling.   Lunch on board followed by a sail to Cooper Island, which has a 12 room hotel, restaurant, rum bar, solar powered brewery, coffee shop with home made ice creams and a dive shop.   If anyone on board wants to dive, Sail Caribbean Divers will collect guests and return them to your boat later in the day wherever you are docked.  This is a fun stop for beach time, kayaking, paddle boarding or drinks while the crew prepare your dinner.

Day 3

Virgin Gorda & Baths

Breakfast on board at your leisure then a sail through the Sir Francis Drake Channel to the island of Virgin Gorda.  Home to a gigantic granite rock formation "The Baths"  where your crew will anchor and dinghy you ashore, leading through the spectacular trail to Devils Bay.  After lunch your yacht will dock in Spanish town marina, where you can take an island tour, visit the Coppermine, North Sounds' spectacular views, hike Gorda Peak, visit the shops or simply relax on board.  After dinner, for guests wanting to go out, the bar at Cocomaya offers charming barefoot elegance and often dancing on the sand.

Day 4

North Sound & Anegada

Today sailing up the north side of Virgin Gorda to the beautiful North Sound known by the locals as "The Billionaires Playground".  North Sound offers many crowd-free beaches and snorkelling along the way.  A calm and sheltered lagoon, makes the sound perfect for all water sports and wake boarding.  If the mood takes you, its also a great spot for a seated beach picnic lunch which your crew will happily set up.  Amongst the seaweed growth at Oil Nut Bay, you are very likely to see turtles.   End the day with an evening sail to Anegada, arriving on time for sunset.

Day 5

Anegada

A whole day to explore the island.   Anegada boasts 16 miles of continuous powder, white sand beach.  The only flat island in The BVI is made of coral and limestone.   It has less than 400 inhabitants but so much to explore including the Conch Shell Mounds, the Flamingo Pond, shelling, snorkelling, fun bars, scooter rental, kite boarding and the world famous Anegada lobster which you can enjoy for dinner at many of the beach side restaurants or have your chef prepare onboard.

Day 6

Guana Island and Jost Van Dyke

This will be your longest sail from Anegada to Guana Island and in April and November you may be lucky enough to see Humpback Whales, you will certainly see turtles and maybe dolphins.    Guana Island is a private island but has spectacular snorkelling off Monkey Point which can be a stop on the way to Jost Van Dyke, if you wish.   You can also swim & play with the water toys off Sandy Cay & Green Cay - the epitome of a paradise island in an illustrated children's book.   If you want quiet, you can stay there for the afternoon or if you want a party atmosphere you will sail to White Bay to The Soggy Dollar Bar, the home of the BVI's famous Painkiller cocktail.

Day 7

Trellis Bay & Tortola

Your last full day can be spent on board, anchored off beautiful Long Bay or you can explore Beef Island and Tortola.  Maybe your party will choose to do different things, this is your prerogative.   For guests wanting to go ashore they can have an island tour and visit Aragorn's Art Studio, The Museum, The Craft Market, The Botanical Garden, BVI Gin and Callwoods Rum distilleries.   Tonight you will sail back to base for your last wonderful evening.

Day 8

Heading home

Heading home... its always sad but if you don't leave, you can't come back!  Your crew will take you to Beef Island Airport and if you have chosen to take advantage of the VIP meet and great service, it will be the most simple departure you have ever experienced as the staff check you & your bags in while you enjoy a drink in the air conditioned lounge with excellent wifi before they take you by golf cart to your plane steps.

Clear blue, calm sea, white soft sand, friendly people, rich culture & incredible sailing ... you'll be back!
